Only long ago, they were used for protection and shelter by men and women. However, over time, they have taken a 360° turn and today they are accessories that cannot be missing in any closet, and even more so after 50. Scarves are in fashion.

“The importance of being attentive to trends is to renew and reinvent yourself. Feeling beautiful, beautiful and elegant in some detail”, said Gabriela Gurmendi, Image and Fashion Advisor for “Be your Best”, in dialogue with Infobae.

But it's not always about buying new clothes or accessories. “Maybe we already have them and the issue is how we combine it or wear it according to current trends”, explained Gurmendi. And he pointed out: “From the age of 50, one must invest in quality and not in quantity. Having put together a wardrobe that is practical and functional to our lifestyle”.

According to the fashion expert, adding trends is ideal to enhance our style: “it always power, brings freshness and elegance”. Along these lines, she emphasized that the scarf has become an essential accessory: “In recent months it is an absolute trend, the scarf is always in force because it enhances any look.”

“Every accessory shows one's style, preferences, what it represents us”, expressed Laura Malpeli to Infobae , director of Styletto. So, starting at 50 and at all times, "the idea is to keep checking to see if the style we have is the same, if we still like the same thing and that this accessory is a representation of exactly who we are, so that the image is the narration of our identity.”

Regarding scarves, Malpeli agreed that they are an essential accessory: "You can have the most basic outfit in the world and with the scarf you give it a special touch." In addition, she specified, colors, shapes and trends can be incorporated to represent a current image.

In this line, it is an accessory that is used all year round and is chosen by people of all genders. There is a wide variety of materials to make them, which will allow their classification as formal or informal, depending on how they are made and their details. There are countless colors and styles: plain, patterned, with logos.

How to wear a scarf after 50?

Gurmendi assured that they can be worn in many different ways: on the head, in hairstyles, on the neck, knotted in the purse or completely covering the handle, as a belt, on the wrist and on the ankle. And the larger scarves can even be used as a top or blouse.

“There are also more retro, romantic or modern ways to wear it. You have to choose according to the style of each person. On the belt and wrist, it is more canchero and current; on the head and neck, it is more retro. In the portfolio, it represents elegance”, explained Gurmendi.

Laura Malpeli said that what is important is that the accessory is a tool to highlight the person, their style and essence. Along these lines, revealed some tips to Infobae, for when choosing the right handkerchief:

1. Choice of place to wear the scarf

“The scarf, like any accessory, and even more so if it has colors and shapes, will draw all eyes to the part of the body where it is placed. So if you prefer to highlight the hip area, you can choose to use a scarf there as a belt or a scarf as if it were a bracelet and when you have your arms at your sides, that area is marked. You have to try to avoid them in the parts that you don't want to highlight or take all eyes to that specific area, ”he said.

2. Scarf Size

“You have to take into account that it is in harmony with style and texture. A petite or small framed person should not choose a scarf that is too big or make a thick knot because that will take away from the image they are projecting. On the other hand, a person who is tall or has a larger build should not choose a scarf with a very narrow knot as it will look disproportionate. You have to keep a relationship with the height and build of the person who wears it,” he said.

3. Scarf Color

“Over the years, the subject of hair often changes. Sometimes it is lightened, lighting is incorporated or warmer tones are used that tend not to harden the features so much and contribute to giving a more jovial image. So, we must take into account that if we use the scarf on the neck or hair, near the face, it is necessary to take into account the color, so that it does not give us a feeling of tiredness or take away our prominence”, added Malpeli.

4. Refinement level

“It is important that the scarf has a degree of refinement similar to the rest of the outfit. If you are going to dress in formal garments with certain textures and details, you should choose a scarf that is not too informal because it takes away harmony and coherence from the image you project”, said the specialist.

5. Stamp

“Choose it to represent your style. In the same way that it happens with the size of the handkerchief and with the way of tying it, the pattern must be in proportion to your build. See if when you use that scarf, the print takes away from you or looks too big or small in relation to you. If it is one of those cases, it will be better to opt for a print of another size that will give more harmony to your image”, he concluded.
