There is a change of guard in fashion and culture. The creators of generation Z are promoting the debate as surprisingly as bold. Our last project, Youthquake, invites you to discover how these artists, musicians, actors, designers and models are radically reimagining the future.

The authentic originals are difficult to find, but Aoi Yamada is.The 21 -year -old resident in Tokyo, who describes herself as "dancer, model and expressing" becomes unmistakable as soon as they see her.Not only for his movements, but also because of the avant -garde and diverse image with which he acts, which can range from a jersey stamped with Matsumoto Castle to a hairstyle in a Japanese straw roof. This eclectic character makes it difficult to forget.Maybe that's why he has already worked with Stella McCartney, has paraded for Fred Perry and, even more, danced alone at the closing ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games last summer. For the latter, he wore a dazzling headdress and a jacket based on fine green and brown cloth strips. When I turned, it looked like a motorhome brush.

Yamada started dancing at age five, trying different genres until realizing that, in reality, I did it for pure fun: "I really enjoyed carrying my favorite clothes and dancing with my favorite music," says Yamada. His love for fashion also dates back to his childhood. In primary school, remember that he bought the newly out of Vogue and played to pose in photographic sessions, using his mother's clothes: "He joined his clothes, coordinated it and took photos in the middle of the rice field in front ofyour house ", tells."I think the colors and combinations I saw as a child unconsciously influence me".

At age 15, he entered a high school of Tokyo specialized in dance until, two years later, he met his current representative. From there, he began working as a model and acting in musical videos, in the theater and in the World Cup in Basel in 2018 and 2019.Even so, consider Olympic performance as its great opportunity, and certainly, no one can ask for a more global scenario.

There is some essence in Yamada's work that resists definitions. Not in vain, he calls "expression" to what he practices, and not "dance", a decision he made after seeing images of the Sayoko Yamaguchi model and Boutoh dancers (the butoh, a Japanese dance style that went on stage in1959, played by dancers with the head shaved and bathed in white powder, is based on slow or erratic movements instead of jumps and kicks). In a recent Instagram video, Yamada acts before the click and the flashes of a camera.Dressed with green pants and jersey, covered by robe and pink gloves, makes the mimicry of sweeping and posing for the camera, walking forward and back.Clothing prints a point of confusion, almost hypnotic.

In their new video for Vogue, two Yamada make a routine in stop-motion that becomes a kind of dance battle. Both are dressed with more typical jersees of an ice skater, complemented with gloves, gigantic spherical sleeves and platform shoes.Ah!And bald appears, perhaps in a wink to the Downoh dancers. The clip, hallucinogen and surrealist, represents very well how it understands its staging and that dreamlike way that has to express yourself. As Yamada says, fashion allows him to "put the soul in a bowl called Aoi Yamada".
