Caro: TikToker tells us all her secrets!

You: Hello Caro, how are you after the quarantine and with the pandemic a little more under control?

C: Good, very good. Somehow we all feel relief, a little more freedom; ready for the new normal and to move on. It seems that the bad things are already gone and it makes us happy to resume our ways.

You: What did these days of confinement leave you?

C: They favored my work, since there were no distractions and I was 100% focused on seeing what I could do with what I had at hand. I learned to value many things such as going out, time with the family, health... we all learned to value those little details and to understand that, even if one has a bad day, there are other people who are having a more difficult time, especially with this of the pandemic.

You: You have 6 million subscribers on YouTube, was it difficult to get to that number?

C: It has been a process of growth. I learned to adapt and to do what people like. In this job you cannot rest and you must be aware of what works, that is a challenge for any content creator: be fast, without going out of your style or your line. I am grateful to my followers.

You: It's a demanding job, how do you manage to be disciplined? Because numbers are not luck...

C: Yes, as you say, discipline is the key, I have to keep an eye on all my networks, make videos for the YouTube channel, post tweets and post photos on my Instagram. You have to give people what they want and be in communication with your followers. If you have grown thanks to them, you should reciprocate with content that they like.

You: How much time do you need to create and upload content?

C: This is a 24/7 job, that's how much time my networks consume: looking for what I'm going to create, the jokes, the content, it's like it's my life!

You: And on TikTok you have more than 9.2 million followers…

C: I reached that number in a year and a bit. The funny thing is that at first I refused to use that app, because I saw that they were dances and I didn't know how to do them, I couldn't do them! One day I started with an easy choreography and many commented to me: “There you are”, “Soon you will dance better”, and so on. Then the choreographies became a habit and I continued; TikTok made many people see that they can also dance, lip sync, act, tell jokes…

You: In this edition there is an interview with Mario Aguilar. You collaborate with him, how do you get along?

C: Mario is a person I respect and admire a lot, he's great at comedy!, and I feel lucky to have his friendship. I feel that communicating with other creators (even if it is not to collaborate) is very important and complements the work; I have learned a lot from him, because he has been in the networks for longer than me, he is a teacher. I feel lucky to have his friendship and support.

You: Is it difficult to have influencer friends?

C: People want to see us compete (LOL), and one grows up with that idea of “so-and-so won't talk to me because we do the same content”, or we think that person doesn't like us and things like that. But if someone is dedicated to the same thing, you can learn from him; in fact, their success makes you work harder to make your numbers just as good. I don't see them as enemies but as a healthy competition, as a goal. The least I can do is be at that person's level. It is good to accept that other people are doing things well.

You: How is your relationship with the fans?

C: I am very grateful to them, there are people who came to my channel since I uploaded my first video and to this day they are still there. If there is something that I can emphasize about them, it is that they are very, very faithful, they know everything about me, I can assure you: they know how I like to drink the coffee or the sweet that I love; It beats me that there is that bond and that communication, without them I would not be here, I would not be fulfilling my dreams and I would not have met incredible people either.

You: Has a fan touched your heart in a special way?

C: Yes, it was a person who is now a little angel, one of his last wishes was to meet me and it is one of the most beautiful things that has happened to me; she told me how she was motivated to follow her dreams through my videos and stories, and it's beautiful! Inspiring other people to keep fighting makes you feel complete.

You: How do you deal with hate?

C: Unfortunately, it is something that has grown, for many people it is easy to judge yourself from a screen. It is very ugly when they catch you in your five minutes and you had a bad day; It's complicated, but it happens to any content creator. If you know your worth, you don't give it so much importance. Sometimes there are 100 comments and only two are full of hate, but we get so caught up in those two negative comments that we forget about the other 98 that are full of love. You don't have to take things so personally, it's normal that not everyone likes your content, but that no longer depends on you; although it is not a justification for them to attack you either. The first step is to love yourself, be happy, positive and tell yourself "this won't affect me".

You: You studied Communication Sciences, how did it help you develop your career in networks?

C: Sometimes I find children who tell me: “I am going to leave school and I am going to dedicate myself to making content”. And I answer them: "Nooo! Look, finish your degree, that will help you a lot because you will have more ideas, more preparation." My bachelor's degree helped me to have the foundations of my work and to develop myself better, I learned that at university. Studying and making content are not things that are in dispute, there are people who have that misconception; The most beautiful thing is that both complement each other. I feel happy, because what I do is related to my career.

You: What would today's Caro say to the girl who started networking years ago?

C: We all go through complicated and difficult situations, that's why I got a tattoo that means “stay strong”, and that's what I would say to little Caro. On occasions I have wanted to retire, stop making content (due to different circumstances), but thinking that there is a follower waiting for a video of mine or the fact that some children see me as their idol, as someone they admire, makes me strive. further. Apart from my family, my fans – who expect great things from me – motivate me to keep going.

You: What is your love status?

C: In some videos you tell your followers that your relationships have been complicated... Same, that's still the same (LOL), it hasn't changed. I'm going to apply the "uncomfortable answer" and say "I have a relationship with my followers" (LOL). I'm not in a moment to fall in love, but I'm happy. Love comes when you least expect it, I am happy and dedicating time to myself; when I feel safe and complete, love issues may take care of themselves. I can tell you that I'm not doing well, not meeting people or anything! It's something that happens, there's no reason to rush, the issue of boyfriends is not running around us.

You: Have you set goals that obsess you, like likes, number of followers, reproductions?

C: We've all gone through a mini stage in which you say “what does that person have that I don't have?”, “if I did this or that I would be more popular”, “if I put on more makeup, if I change clothes or paint my hair. At first, people made fun of my physique, they told me that I was very skinny, that I was a board or a stick; And these comments were so frequent that there came a time when I said "I don't care, it's always the same and I don't know what the purpose is of being told that." Later I took it with grace; In fact, now I call my followers "tablets" and they find it funny, now tablita is that person who does not care what they say about their physique and loves themselves as they are.
