The pandemic has led to the growth of virtual relationships over the past year and a half, but some of them have borne fruit in real encounters that have not only led to new friendships, but also to unprecedented business projects. This is the case of Helena Abalo and Nohemí Pérez, companions of an unexpected journey that has led them to join their artistic abilities, one as a plastic creator and the other as a fashion designer.

Helena had been drawing in a self-taught way all her life, but she started on the textile using it as a canvas when it occurred to her to paint on the fabric of the umbrellas after her sister arrived on a journey with a handpainted one.

"for a long time I tried to make what I love most in life become my way of earning it. She had tried several things but did not curd anything, "Helena recalls. The artist born in Vilanova de Arousa lived in Vigo for many years although her residence is now in Mondariz, and she met Nohemí by chance through Instagram. "I Don't know how to use social networks well, but through them I find people with whom I really relate later. First I contacted a painter, and together it occurred to us also to make hats for the rain, which we entrust to the one who is now my partner, "she says. From that punctual association was born two months ago three Miradas, the brand they present to the public in an ephemeral shop that they set up yesterday at the Hotel NH Collection and continues today all day, from 10: 00 a.m. to 9: 00 p.m., in one of its salons.

"we started working together to make some clothes until we seriously decided to launch this project that brings fashion and art together," he explains, adding that his plan is not to make clothing collections, but exclusive and special pieces, that bring style and comfort. "we want them to be a little timeless and for a broad age group, especially from the age of 30 and with no limit up," says Abalo, delighted and very excited to see how, at last, he can devote himself fully to plastic creation as he always wished. She always moved in the commercial sector, but a health problem made her stop dry and that gave her the opportunity to think calmly and decide to do what she likes: "painting reassures me, absorbs me, moves me to another world," she explains. They both take care of the whole process. In the creative there are both and then, each applies in its specific task. Helena with brushes and colors and Nohemi, with thread, scissors and everything necessary for the patronage and making of a wide range of garments ranging from vests to jackets, coats, Kimonos, etc. The young Vigo, 24, tells me to sew since she was a girl because she learned at home, next to her Aunt Loli. "my parents worked outside and I was with her for a long time, in her care. So I became my first dolls and then I continued to get interested in sewing and making clothes in a professional way, "says the designer, who studied at the School of fashion in Galicia at the University of Vigo, Esdemga.

Sustainability is another important part of the Tres Miradas brand, which is called this because the two creators want to include their clientele, third involved in a project where they also participate actively. At the moment they have an Instagram account (@ tres.watches) but they are preparing their website.

When they talk about that sustainable process, they refer to ruling out the least, trying to make sure that everything they do, they have buyers who choose in advance what they want and Don't end up cornered in a closet. "we put forward our proposals, but then everything can be modified or added to taste," he says about a way of working that dispenses with the physical store, except for the ephemeral ones that he has in mind to start every month and a half, and they will advertise on social networks. In today's meeting at the Hotel NH they share space with Belén Touceda, expert in table decoration, and do not rule out other punctual collaborations. Meanwhile, Helena hasn't abandoned the umbrella decoration. They are still an overwhelming success, which, moreover, paints on models of 16 rods of the umbrella brand Carballo, "the only Galician that remains".
