Slim takes Sanborns and Sears to the app world: it will launch its applications this year

As part of his omnichannel strategy, Carlos Slim plans to launch apps for his Sanborns and Sears chains, where in addition to making purchases, customers will be allowed to check balances or pay.

According to the Finance Director of Grupo Sanborns, Mario Bermúdez, having an app is very important for an e-commerce page, so they expect both to be available in the fourth quarter of the year.

“We are about to launch the application from both Sears and Sanborns, as you know, sales in the application represent a lot on an ecommerce page, it is very important and you will be able to check the balance and the account statement and pay” , he said on a call with analysts.

In addition, he commented that as part of this strategy, they are about to release some improvements in the delivery of orders in stores, a scheme that has become relevant in the sales of both chains.

“We continue to reinforce the whole issue of picking up in store, it is a project that we released in the second quarter and it has benefited us a lot. At Sanborns we see very encouraging numbers; In this sense, 30% of the total orders are made by picking up at the store and at Sears, like 14%, ”she explained.

In this sense, he commented that they are also reinforcing the fact that orders leave the store closer to the customer in order to expedite the delivery time, which ranges between 2.5 and 3 days.

Meanwhile, the CEO of the Group, Patrick Slim Domit, commented that the return to face-to-face classes and face-to-face work has favored the sale of clothing at Sears, after for months electronics, computers and other technological items dominated sales in their stores.

“Starting more or less in August and September, fashion, which was coming down, with the return to school and offices, we already saw a substantial improvement in sales and that should help in the added value of Sears,” said Slim Domit.

In fact, he specified that in the case of Sanborns, the sale of food and beverages was the part that was most complicated in the days of the pandemic, but in recent months it has also shown an improvement in recent quarters.

“Regarding the restaurants, it was very complicated. Right now we are on a very good trend. We expect it to continue towards the end of the year. We have implemented many measures, above all we have worked a lot with the takeaway food platforms that have partially helped us and development of new products”, added Slim Domit.
