In many ways, Kanye West is a creature of habit. So when you perform variations on the same uniform for months and months (these days, that means a Yeezy Gap-esque hoodie under Balenciaga outerwear, with distressed jeans tucked into some aggro boots), you hold gatherings in multiple locations. from Sant Ambroeus in Manhattan, goes to Carbone with Julia Fox twice in one week (in two different cities!), and buys every Balenciaga store along the East Coast, everything is par for the course. He's just doing the things he loves, until he's doing something a little bit more.

Things are moving fast in the Ye multiverse, but keep in mind that cryptic, breakneck preparations for a big announcement is another of his signature moves. Last night, Interview magazine held a photo shoot with Ye and Fox smooching at the aforementioned upscale Italian spot (and elsewhere), and an accompanying statement from Fox illuminated some of the happenings. As it turns out, despite his ongoing creative kinship with Demna, Ye pondering the contrapposto inside the Miami Balenciaga store. Monday was not a mere routine. Instead, it appears that she had been securing a hotel room full of clothes with which to surprise Fox, whom she met in town on New Year's Eve. Since then, Fox has worn Balenciaga to most public outings, not unlike Ye's wife, Kim Kardashian.

This morning, Kanye West himself confirmed that a new collaboration is in the works, one that merges two of his current creative partnerships: Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga, an upcoming expansion on Ye's 10-year deal with the mall retailer. which coincides with Ye and Demna's long-time shared interests in utilitarian fashion and mass culture sensibilities.

"There are very few people I know, especially of Ye's caliber, who really understand my work that well," Demna told Vogue. “He makes me get out of my comfort zone and be a better designer. There's no ego when we collaborate, just a mutual drive to evolve and do something new and great."
