"impelling sustainable and sustainable fashion that does not harm the environment is an act of rebellion: a form of revolution, in an industry that is responsible for 10 percent of global pollution, according to UN data," said Sara Alarcón, promoter of the fashion Revolution Week forum, Yucatan Chapter.

In addition, he added, sustainable fashion means giving better treatment to employees and workers who are part of the company. "all and all are necessary."

"giving it a value not economic, but of sharing, of creating community, is part of the kind of revolution we want to generate," he stressed.

In order to generate changes of consciousness and to allow more people to adopt this new way of doing business, from April 19 to Sunday the 25th, this event is organized by slow fashion Club along with Originaria.

During this meeting, experts on the subject share their experiences and knowledge, through free webinars on how to create your own brand of sustainable fashion, socially responsible design, the "ABC of sustainable fashion", biomaterials with local products, brands of second-hand clothing, among other topics.

Slow fashion Club includes Pamela Gallegos, Rocío Solloa, Melina Goytortua, Sara Alarcón, Ary Marrufo and Melissa Jurado.

It is important that fashion brands opt for sustainable designs, for the preservation of our planet and ourselves as humans, Alarcón said. "to be aware that, in the end, consuming sustainable brands helps the economy, ecology, to continue to preserve resources for the future," he said.

The fashion designer commented that in order for a company or business in the sector to be sustainable, it must comply with certain main axes, in addition to handling inputs that are not harmful to the environment, and also guarantee the labor rights of its collaborators, "who understand that they are not only their employees, but that a company cannot operate without each of them."

He added that "what makes a difference is not only the use of inputs that do not harm the environment, but also treat your collaborators in a fair and appropriate manner."

Sara said it's not about competing with big brands, but offering sustainable options, being local brands that present a better product and better treat the environment, its employees, especially responsible and aware about the impact they leave on the planet.

On the other hand, he acknowledged that more and more companies are joining this sustainable fashion. Some universities have even adopted these projects within their curricula; students also seek to get involved in these issues and not harm the environment.

Some sustainable Yucatecan brands such as Pau Román, Ary Marrufo Mx, Noi Studio, La Rocco, Criptica Mx, Ressurgir Mx, Espacio Métrica and La Returns, are opting for a sustainable fashion that does not harm the environment.
