What attracted you the most to working with IKKS?Lou Doillon's favorite leather jacket (and the other style tips from one of the most persecuted French women) Lou Doillon's favorite leather jacket (and the other style tips from one of the most persecuted French women)

I was glad to meet the same team. In such a delicate year, being lucky enough to once again work with a family like the one at IKKS, and creating a relationship of loyalty, is something that I value very much.

What is your favorite piece of clothing from Leather Story?

The leather jacket, of course.

Do you really identify with the leather jacket?

Yes, absolutely. Also, depending on the life stage I've been in, I've had more or less thick leather jackets. In the end, it's like a shield that always protects you...

What does fashion consist of for you?

As R. Barthes said, the sensible turned into a signifier. It is one of the universal languages, like music, dance, art. It's free.

What is your first memory related to fashion?

The costume trunk my mom kept on the landing, where I would get something out every morning to "make up." She would put dresses on my head, shirts as a dress... I found an old Super 8 tape a few weeks ago. In the images I am 3 years old and I spend 10 minutes trying to take off a dungarees that I have worn inside out, a turban that I wear as a scarf and a plastic bag that I carry as a backpack. My father asks me where I'm going dressed like this, and I, very serious, answer him: "I'm going to work."

-I'm sure you've never been asked this question before (laughs) and, nevertheless, I need to ask you... Do you feel more English or French?

Dressing for the English is "dress up". It's the same word they use to disguise themselves. In French, on the other hand, we use dressing and disguising differently. Either you dress well for day to day or you dress up, in a more playful way. I think that every day "I dress up". I like the idea of the costume much more than the idea of just dressing up. For that I am more English.

Are you one of the women who have fun with clothes?

Yes, I love having fun with clothes, for me it has a very playful component. When I'm in London I always have more fun. Of the French, on the other hand, I admire their ability to know what really suits them. It is very rare to come across a French woman who is wearing something that does not suit her. And they always play wonderfully on contrasts: they wear an ultra-sophisticated dress but don't mix it with heels, for example. They stop just in the moment before becoming "too much". What I don't like, on the other hand, is that they take what others think too seriously.

What do you think of Spanish fashion sense?

Spanish women know how to let themselves go, they have a very dramatic part inside, which fascinates me. The way they move, their hands, their gestures... They have the ability to sober up a bit if they feel like it, when they come to Paris, for example...

I admit that today I dressed a little French...

(laughs) Yes, and you did it perfectly. But I'll tell you something, you have a sparkle in your eyes that Parisians don't have (laughs).

What trends stand out for this fall?

The truth is that I decide everything at the last minute. Last year, when everyone opted for sobriety, I was in harlequin mode. I'm still loving color this year and velvet is one of my favorite materials. I also love dramatically big pants and dramatically little tops. I love to have fun with extremes.

What clothes do you never part with?

Something for the head, a cap, a hat, a bicorne, a beret, a hood, a balaclava... I like to put things on my head.

I admire you because you're one of the people who doesn't "marry" anyone...

I am an advocate of independence, in the simplest sense of the word: Act in a way that allows you to stay as light as possible. Do not project yourself or expect too much, do not seek happiness in others, limit your expectations to yourself, since that makes us lighter. Build your own world, evolve and get out of it when we have something to offer others.

What vital advice do you give your child?

I always tell my son: Be curious, be polite, and be aware of everything around you. To have empathy you have to be curious and to be curious you have to learn, so everything depends on the trips you take, learning languages, meeting people... I also believe that in these times when everything depends on defining everything, I think the important thing is to stop defining yourself. Now with social networks we look too much at ourselves. You have to learn to look a little at others.

What is your biggest dream?

My dream is to be able to continue dreaming. Never arrive at a place where you have already been and, on top of that, have the impression of doing it less well than at the beginning. I am obsessed with always moving forward. It seems silly but it's the truth, having health to continue "doing". The most time possible. I am obsessed with taking advantage of every last moment of my life...

Before finishing, which book is always with you?

Ovid's Metamorphoses, poems by Sylvia Plath and Dorothy Parker. They have been with me for a long time and I rediscover them with each reading.
