Glitter has made a slow entry into the world of trends, but by this end of the year, its use will be seen in beauty, clothing and accessories.

At the end of 2016, the makeup artist from Quito Juan Carlos Salazar, who lives in Belgium, already brought to Ecuador proposals with 'glitter' for lips and eyes. Over the course of 2017, this use spread and descended towards clothing, until in recent weeks celebrities like Kendall Jenner and brands like the French Balmain have filled Instagram > with dresses that shine, whether by metallic threads, glitter, sequins or metallic.

This desire to reflect light has also led to the creation and popularization of the Kirakira ‘app’, which gives photos and videos points of light.

The trend comes just for the festive season, in which it is more accepted to wear accessories with sequins or glitter, so Ecuadorian designers are betting on launching products of this style for these months.

María José Prieto, designer at De Prati, says that in all the lines of the department store there are garments and accessories with shine. From thecasual: the t-shirts or the 'sneakers' are or have frosted or metallic details. Even more so in the night and party lines, where glamor is proposed.

'Glam' is precisely one of the influences of this trend. The disco era of the 70s and the opulence of the 80s returned and will be present until the following year.

The ‘bomber jackets’ that the models in the photo are wearing are from Cuenca designer Álex Polo. These garments are a clear reference to the 80s, not only because of the sequins, but also because of the voluminous shoulders, the use of textiles and bright colors. Joining the use of 'glitter' is simple and there are recommendations for all kinds of people.

The make-up artist Sol Verbik says that to wear glitter -there are special products in makeup stores- you have to “let your imagination run wild”. It can be done from an eyeliner to a shading with glitter or add glitter or frosty lipstick on the lips.

You should also look for ranges that go according to yourskin color: golds and bronzes will suit people with tanned skin better, while silvers and salmon pinks are recommended for skins pale or cold

Fashion stylist Lenin Terán says that in clothing you can only add accessories, for the most conservative ones or take a risk with a large garment like a jacket or a dress. Men can also implement the 'glitter'. A touch of shine in the accessories or in the 'snickers' is Terán's recommendation for the male audience.
